Homeschool Blessings! – Honing in to Home

Homeschool Blessings!

AMEN to this!
“…and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God…

“Colossians 1:10 unwraps some ways in which we can homeschool in a manner worthy of the Lord. “Please him.” The meaning of “please,” I discovered, is about our hearts and our desire to live in a way that honors God. Homeschooling has many blessings, but its challenges may cause our vulnerabilities—such as doubts, wondering if it’s worth it, or even the temptation to give up—to surface. In those moments, our comfort is this: God knows our hearts (1 Kings 8:39). God sees our desire to obey and remain faithful despite our weaknesses. “Bearing fruit in every good work.” The fruit of our homeschooling labors is seldom immediate. It may take a few days or months before all the pieces of the learning puzzle fall into place. The blossoming of character takes years of planting the seeds of God’s Word and nurturing our children’s hearts. But we persist, knowing that in the end God will bring forth a harvest of righteousness. “Growing in the knowledge of God.” Homeschooling provides unparalleled opportunities to disciple our children’s hearts. Homeschooling also brings me face-to-face with my shortcomings—my impatience and my proclivity to get caught up in schedules and activities, and my tendency to compare myself with other homeschool parents. When I see the condition of my heart and the areas in which I need God’s grace, I long for more of Jesus. There’s nothing quite like homeschooling that keeps me on my knees and reveals God’s faithfulness and power. Jesus proves that his grace is sufficient for each homeschooling day!

  1. You are so right! Training up our children in The Way is no joke and hard work. There are so many days when I do not feel fit. But this is my mission field and God will take my weaknesses and use them for His glory.

Thank you for these wonderful words!

    Blessings

  2. Amen, Amy! 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10 “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. That is why I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong!”

    Love you Sister!
